History of the Race and its Cause
The race was founded in 2002 to raise funds for the Thomas Chamberas Memorial Runners’ Scholarship. In 2005 Thomas Francis Chamberas was born, named after his late Uncle Tommy who died in 1994. When Thomas Francis was 10 days old he was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis.
But thanks to innovative treatments and medicines, kids like Thomas can thrive. In fact, last year, Thomas became the youngest person to complete the race course, thanks in part to the therapy and medicine he receives for treatment of CF.In short, your support of this this race helps kids like Thomas thrive. Today, all proceeds from the race will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
